BASEBALL THE MOVIE: FAQ

1

How did you get into writing?

My grandmother was an English teacher and an author. My uncle has published books. So has my aunt. My mother published a book. So did my cousin. The written word has been important to my family for as long as I can remember.

2

Why film criticism specifically?

I grew up adoring Roger Ebert. I watched the show, yes, but I devoured the books of his reviews. I revered his ability to share a deeply informed opinion about a film in simple terms that anyone could understand. And I was moved by his passion. I watched a lot of movies as a kid, but I went deep into film as a teenager (Boogie Nights was my gateway), and I haven't gone back.

3

And why baseball movies?

I love baseball. It started when I was six years old, and I watched the Amazin' Mets win the World Series. They were a cinematic team, and baseball is a cinematic sport. This is all covered in the introduction to my book, so maybe you should just check that out!

4

Do you have a favorite baseball movie?

Read the book!

5

What about a favorite non-baseball movie?

Yes. It's called Zero Effect. You probably haven't seen it, but if you have, and you like it, let's be friends.

6

I notice it has been a while since you've published anything. What gives?

Right now, my focus is on songwriting, but that's always subject to change. I do have a few ideas for a second book, so stay tuned.
